Happy Mothers Day - Be Sure to Appreciate Your Mom While She is Here!

I don't have any digital pictures of my mom. She died in 1999 from melanoma (skin cancer). So I took a couple of pictures of my scrapbook page with mom.
This picture was taken just a few weeks before she died. It is the last picture of us together. She was such a trooper.
In early 1993 they found a lemon size brain tumor. They finally realized it was metastasis from an misdiagnosed stage 2 melanoma on her arm that had been removed 8 years prior. Long story short she was given 6 months - 1 year to live. She made it almost 7 years. But with radiation (that aged her 20 years & turned her salt and pepper hair to pure white when it came back in!)to the brain, chemo and 2 more surgeries. She never complained, she never felt sorry for herself (that she expressed)and she always had a wonderful smile on her face. She had several small strokes and had trouble talking and expressing her thoughts. You should have seen us doing charades with her.

Appreciate your moms. Spend time with them while you have them. You will miss them more than you can imagine when they are gone.
My mom was so worried about me when she died. My ex husband had left me just a few months before. She never got to meet my new husband and step kids. She would have loved them!
Love your moms! Even if they aren't the moms you want them to be. Mom's aren't super human (except I really think mine was)....as most of you know, we just try to do the best we can, we try to do what we think is best for our children.

Beautiful! I lost my dad in 2003 and it really made me look at life differently. There are so many things we take for granted- days like today remind us of our loved ones.

What a wonderful story. Found out today that my MIL has 3 months. We all thought she beat her breast cancer but it came back. Not the Mother's Day I expected but we will be with her all the way.
Truly love your pix of your mom and thanks for sharing - it made me think :)
